What we do

From one branch over the shed to a dead gum beside the house.

Gippsland Tree Services specialise in all aspects of tree removal, pruning, mulching and stump grinding. Those are his own words for it, and they cover most of what gets asked.

A Gippsland Tree Services climber roped into the fork of a large shedding gum, part way up the trunk.

Sectioning a big gum out of a stand, from the fork.

Tree removal

Whole trees taken down and carted away, including the awkward ones with no room to drop anything.

Hazardous tree removal

Dead, split or leaning trees that have become a problem for a house, a shed or a fence line.

Removal in confined spaces

Roped and sectioned down piece by piece where a truck cannot get in and nothing can be felled whole.

Tree pruning

Shaping, lifting and thinning, whether it is one branch over a roof or a whole row along a boundary.

Stump grinding

The stump chewed out below ground so you can plant, pave or mow straight over the top of it.

Mulching

What comes down goes through the chipper, so it can leave as mulch rather than as a pile of logs.

Hedging

Hedges cut back square, whether it is one out the front or a long boundary run.

Storm cleanups

Trees and limbs down after a blow, cleared off fences, driveways and roofs.

Large EWP access

A large elevated work platform for the jobs that cannot be safely reached on a rope.

The work

What it actually looks like, start to finish.

Every photograph below was taken by a customer on his own place, not by us. He wanted a tall tree gone from over his fence line, and he wrote the review underneath afterwards.

Mulched flat, border rocks put back where they were.
“Matt was on time, worked hard with his assistant Jarrah to remove a tall tree overhanging our fence line. He was extremely careful not to damage our fences. He removed large border rocks to be able to chew out the stump, then replaced them with care. He and Jarrah cleaned up extremely well, not a twig was left behind. We are very happy. His quote was also very competitive. We will use Gippsland Tree Services again.”

Looking down from high in a tree at the shadow it casts across a sunlit paddock, with the climber's own shadow hanging on the rope halfway up the trunk.

Matt’s own photograph, taken from the top of the tree casting the shadow.

Who turns up

Matt Harris, and he does what he says he will.

Gippsland Tree Services is Matt Harris and his crew, working out of Leongatha with more than ten years of it behind them. Fully qualified, fully insured, and set up for the jobs most people would rather not look at: dead gums beside a house, trees with nowhere to fall, limbs across a fence after a blow.

Read through the reviews and the same two things keep coming up, in different people’s words. He turns up when he says he will. And when he leaves, you cannot tell there was ever a tree there, because everything that came down went through the chipper and went with him.

If council needs to give you a permit before anything can happen, that is not a reason to put it off either. He has walked a customer through that part before.

Matt and his team did a fantastic job with removing a tree, trimming a tree and removing an invasive plant from my front yard. Professional, friendly, reliable and competitive rates. I definitely recommend Gippsland Tree Services. Thank-you Matt and team.

Matt was fantastic. Arrived on time. A welcoming smile & friendly manner. Did the job efficiently and took it all away. Cleaned up after himself. I'd highly recommend this business.

Matt and his team were amazing. So helpful throughout the whole process including helping with permits. They went out of their way to ensure the job was done promptly and we were so impressed with how they left our property so tidy. Would recommend Matt in a heartbeat - Angie and Steven

I have now used Matt and his team on two occasions and both times he has been entirely satisfactory. The first time involved removing and cutting up a large messmate which had blown down next to the house and the second involved both making safe a large tree also next to the house that died and clearing fallen trees off a fence line. He is reliable and turns up when he says he will. Does a good job. No damage to the buildings and cleaned up well afterwards. I thought his rates were reasonable and would happily recommend him to friends and family.

Where and when

Based in Leongatha. We travel.

Leongatha is home, and the work goes out across South Gippsland and the wider Gippsland region from there. If you’re not sure whether you’re too far out, ask. Worth asking.
